South African rand tumbles as ruling party backs Zuma

In tonight's edition: the South African rand weakens as the chance of an early Zuma exit fades, campaigning kicks off in Kenya ahead of presidential elections; and chef Mick Élysée brings his fusion skills back to DR Congo.

Beleaguered South African President Jacob Zuma lives to fight another day, after a renewed effort from within the ruling ANC party to oust him is rejected in the name of "party unity". We hear from our correspondent in Cape Town.

Also, campaigning has officially begun ahead of Kenya's presidential election. Uhuru Kenyatta seeks to renew his mandate, as opposition leader Raila Odinga insists only he can be trusted to tackle the rising cost of living.

And we meet the Franco-Congolese chef who - after two decades making a name for himself in Europe - has returned to the DRC to share his skills with the next generation of Congolese food enthusiasts.
