Travis Kalanick: Uber boss steps down amid controversy

It's been eight years since Uber came onto the scene and shook things up with its ride-hailing app that matches drivers with passengers. In that time, the company has been hit by several scandals. Chief Executive Travis Kalanick resigned on Wednesday, under mounting pressure from investors over his leadership.

Also, in Colombia, after the FARC rebels pledged to completely disarm this week, one of the group's former leaders has said he's convinced of the possibility of peace in the South American nation. Former FARC leader Mauricio Jaramillo says there is no longer a need for arms.

And Argentina tries to humanise the experience of prison for jailed mothers, particularly for those living with children. One prison in Buenos Aires has unveiled several small houses equipped with a green lawn. Authorities hope this means children will suffer less from the trauma of incarceration.
