'Spain's day of shame'

IN THE WORLD PAPERS - Mon. 02.10.17: The day after Catalonia's bloody independence referendum, Catalan papers celebrate the "dignity" of voters in the face of Spain's "shameful" use of force. National papers, meanwhile, blame the violence on the Catalan police, accusing the "Mossos" of betraying the state. And the brutal images coming out of Catalonia inspire cartoonists around the world, many of whom see the vote widening the rift between the region and the central government.
