Former top US diplomat: Trump is right on Afghanistan, wrong on Pakistan

Career US diplomat Ryan Crocker served as ambassador to both Afghanistan and Pakistan. In an interview with FRANCE 24, he hailed the decision by the Trump administration to stay in Afghanistan without time limits. Crocker says it's crucial for the US to stay the course at a time when the Taliban is resurgent and carrying out large-scale attacks.

However, retired US diplomat Ryan Crocker lamented the US decision to cut funding to Pakistan. He argues that Washington should take a less punitive approach and tell Islamabad that it will remain in the region for as long as it takes and strike the Taliban inside Pakistan if necessary.
