'Without gender equality, the conflict in Yemen will continue'

Within one of the world’s most vicious conflicts, there remains a largely unreported narrative: the plight of women in Yemen. The UN estimates that more than three million Yemeni women and girls are at risk of gender-based violence, and 60,000 women are at risk of sexual violence, including rape. Suha Basharen, a gender specialist with CARE Yemen, talks to Armen Georgian about the challenges facing women in the war-torn state and her work around the country aimed at improving gender equality.
