Fatima Al-Banawi's Saudi stories mine the personal and the universal

She has starred in a critically acclaimed film, yet Fatima Al-Banawi grew up in a country where cinemas simply didn't exist. The artist and actress is now looking to bring a Saudi Arabian perspective to European audiences through the medium of storytelling, via her performance "Amours Saudiennes" at the Palais de Tokyo gallery in Paris.

The star of the 2016 movie "Barakah meets Barakah", Fatima tells us how the virtual space has been a key factor in changing behaviour and attitudes in the more tangible space of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
