Eighteen features will be battling it out on the Riviera for the golden palm at this year’s festival, as organisers announce the list of films in the official competition at Cannes. Spike Lee, Matteo Garrone and Jean-Luc Godard will all have films screened, as well as Jafar Panahi. Authorities in Tehran have placed the Iranian director under house arrest in the past for what they believe to be dissident film-making, and he’s been prevented from travelling to the festival in previous years.
