BURMA
Almost 1,800 Karens have found refuge in Thailand since June 3, when the Burmese army began an offensive against the separatists fighters of this ethnic minority. The humanitarian situation is extremely worrying.
THAILAND
FRANCE 24 went to Chiang Rai, in the north of Thailand, to meet supporters of the exiled former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra. Opposed to the current government, they wear red shirts in a show of support for their political hero.
CAMBODIA
A number of US-born children of refugees who fled the Khmer Rouge grew up in US ghettos. But under American law, they are sent back to Cambodia if they are convicted twice as felons. Their return back in their own unknown country can be nightmarish.
THAILAND
Southern Thailand is no dream holiday destination. In the last five years, more than 3,000 people have been killed there during an ongoing civil war between the Thai army and Islamist militants, whose existance was unknown to many.
