'Mad Men' and '30 Rock' repeat Emmy triumph
For the second year running, popular TV shows "Mad Men" and "30 Rock" have scooped the top prizes at the Emmy Awards, television's equivalent of the Oscars. As expected, "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin (pictured) got the best comedy actor award.

Speech Debelle rap therapy crowned with UK Mercury Prize
The prestigious British Mercury Prize was awarded to Speech Debelle and her rap album "Speech Therapy", ahead of the bookies' favourite, Florence and the Machine, despited the album not selling enough copies to enter the Official UK Albums Chart.

Martin Provost's "Seraphine" collected seven Cesar French film awards on Friday, including the year's best film award. Actor Vincent Cassel was picked best actor for his role in Jean-François Richet's "Mesrine".

Former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and Alison Krauss stacked up five awards for their highly acclaimed rock-country collaboration. Krauss now has a record 26 Grammys. British band Coldplay won three awards.

Meryl Streep, Sean Penn and the film "Slumdog Millionaire" took top prizes at the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. "Slumdog" has emerged as an Oscars favourite in the wake of its SAG triumph.
