HSBC to hire 15,000 in emerging markets

A day after it announced plans to cut 30,000 jobs worldwide in an effort to slash costs, banking giant HSBC announced Tuesday that it would be hiring 15,000 people in emerging markets over the next three years.

HSBC announces plans to slash 30,000 jobs

HSBC announced Monday it will slash 30,000 jobs between now and 2013 in countries where it is struggling to compete. The cuts, which represent roughly 10 percent of the bank’s total workforce, come on top of plans to scale back operations worldwide.
