Pope speaks of 'pain' of Kristallnacht

German-born Pope Benedict XVI voiced on Sunday his lingering pain over the night 70 years ago when the Nazis whipped up anti-Jewish riots in the "Kristallnacht" pogrom, considered a prelude to the Holocaust.
