Despite a hat-trick from Lyon's forward Lisandro Lopez, Lille has defeated the seven-time French Ligue 1 champions 4-3 though they were loosing 1-3 at half-time. Lyon missed an important chance to narrow the gap with Ligue 1 leader Bordeaux.
Fiorentina and Arsenal went through to the next round of the Champions League on Tuesday but Liverpool were less lucky, going out despite a win against Debrecen. FC Barcelona beat Inter Milan, giving them the chance to defend their title.

Jeremy Toulalan scored an own goal in stoppage time to hand Olympique Marseille a 5-5 draw at Olympique Lyon in a spectacular Ligue 1 game on Sunday, after leaders Girondins Bordeaux had slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Lille.
Frustrated Liverpool could be out of the Champions League after Lyon grabbed a late equaliser to move on to the knockout stage. Joining the French club are Sevilla, whose 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart earned the Spaniards a place in the last 16.
Lyon came from behind to claim a late 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield. The French side therefore hold on to the top spot in Group E, as Liverpool's hopes of progressing to the knockout stages fade.
