Hunger striking Tymoshenko transferred from jail to hospital

Ukraine's former PM Yulia Tymoshenko has been taken to hospital in the eastern city of Kharkiv. It's been nearly three weeks since she went on hunger strike in prison in protest at her treatment. She was sentenced to seven years in jail last October, having been found guilty of abusing her power while in office. But her supporters say she has been the victim of a smear campaign carried out by President Victor Yanukovich, who beat her in elections two years ago.

Tymoshenko transferred to hospital, ends hunger strike

Imprisoned Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko ended a 20-day hunger strike on Wednesday as authorities transferred her from a jail in the eastern city of Kharkiv to a hospital where she is to be treated for severe back pain.

Ukraine's Tymoshenko to end hunger strike

Imprisoned Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko is set to end a 19-day hunger strike on Wednesday, as President Viktor Yanukovich cancelled a regional summit after several countries said they would boycott the event over his treatment of her.

Judge delays tax trial of former PM Tymoshenko

The tax evasion trial of Ukraine's former PM Yulia Tymoshenko, imprisoned on separate charges critics say were politically motivated, was postponed on Saturday until May 21. Tymoshenko had asked for a trial delay due to health reasons.

Ukraine's jailed former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko has gone on a hunger strike after claiming she was beaten by prison guards, her lawyer said Tuesday. Her conviction last year on charges of abuse of power drew condemnation from the West.

Fears for the health of jailed former Ukrainian PM

The health of Ukraine's former Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, is of growing concern. Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in prison last October for alleged abuse of office over a gas contract signed with Russia in 2009. The EU, the US and Russia have all said the sentence was politically motivated and unfair, however disadvantageous the gas contract might have been. Worse, there are now accusations that the Ukrainian authorities may be trying to kill her through neglect.

Jailed former PM faces fresh corruption charges

Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who was controversially convicted of abuse of power, has been charged with additional financial crimes, the Ukraine tax office said Friday. Her lawyer described the charges as "absurd".
