Roma face eviction in Paris suburb
Some 600 Roma inhabitants of a shantytown in Saint-Ouen face imminent eviction. Twenty-four fortunate families will join an integration scheme. The others face deportation to Romania but swear they will return to France.

Romanian president slams Italian gypsy rules
Following a meeting with Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, Romanian president Traian Basescu slammed Italy's tough stance towards gypsies, saying that "Romania does not approve".

Italy to continue fingerprinting Romas
The Italian government is pressing ahead with plans to fingerprint Roma communities, despite criticism from the European Parliament and human rights groups. To avoid claims of discrimination, it may require all Italian citizens to be fingerprinted.
