Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of assassinated former president John F. Kennedy, said she would not be running for the US Senate seat vacated by newly-appointed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, citing personal reasons.
In a statement published on its Web site, The New York Times admitted that it had published a fake letter, purportedly from Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe, that attacked Caroline Kennedy's US Senate bid as "appalling".
