France's Tsonga crashes out against Nadal in quarter finals
French title-holder Jo-Wilfried Tsonga lost out to Rafael Nadal in two sets in the quarter finals at the Paris Masters Friday. Nadal will now face third seed Novak Djokovic in the semis, who earlier defeated Robin Soderling.

Former world number one, Rafael Nadal, was forced to save five match points before defeating Tommy Robredo. In the Paris Master quarter finals he'll face title holder Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (pictured) who defeated fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon.

The majority of the favourites in the Paris Masters Open have survived the second round, such as Russia's Nikolay Davydenko (pictured) who defeated German Benjamin Becker and French title holder Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Paul-Henri Mathieu and Vincent Millot have both failed to qualify for the second stage of the Paris Masters tournament. However, French hopes can still be focused on title holder Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is facing Albert Montanes on Tuesday.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga became the first Frenchman to win the Japan Open as he outgunned Russia's Mikhail Youzhny to win the final in straight sets (6-3, 6-3). Tsonga, 24, brings his title haul to five, including three this season.

Tsonga edges Monfils in all-French semi
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has defeated fellow Frenchman Gaël Monfils in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Open. The second seed will face Russia's Mikhail Youzhny, who battled past former world number one Lleyton Hewitt.

Seventh seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced to the round of 16 at the US Open on Sunday by defeating fellow Frenchman Julien Benneteau 7-6 (7/4), 6-2, 6-4, while Britain's Andy Murray needed just 90 minutes to dispatch American Taylor Dent.
