Guillemot, Riou take joint third in round-the-world race
Frenchman Marc Guillemot took third place in the Vendee Globe solo round-the-world race on Saturday, knocking England's Samantha Davies off the podium. He will share third place with 2005 champion Vincent Riou.

Le Cléac'h is second to complete round-the-world race
After 89 days at sea, France's Armel Le Cléac'h (Brit Air) finished the solitary round-the-globe race in second place. The youngest of the 11 skippers still competing in the gruelling race, Le Cléac'h sailed into port five days after the winner.

France's Desjoyeaux wins Vendée Globe for second time
Frenchman Michel Desjoyeaux has won the gruelling Vendée Globe around-the-world solo yacht race after crossing the finish line at the French port of Les Sables d'Olonne on Sunday in a record time of 84 days.

Michel Desjoyeaux to set a new record
French skipper Michel Desjoyeaux will probably set a new record in the Vendée Globe round-the-world yachting race. He commands a 800-mile lead on second-place Roland Jourdain's Veolia Environnement and may arrive next week-end.

The Vendée Globe organisers have ruled that retired French skipper Vincent Riou will be ranked as equal third at the close of the round-the-world race. Riou pulled out after his boat was damaged as he sought to rescue rival Jean Le Cam.

Vendee Globe contender Vincent Riou was forced to pull out of the race after losing his mast rounding Cape Horn. Hours earlier the Frenchman rescued fellow yachtsman Jean Le Cam who was stuck beneath his capsized boat.

Le Cam boat capsised, second distress signal sent
The boat of Vendée Globe skipper Jean Le Cam (VM Materiaux) was seen capsised and a second distress mayday signal was received from him. Race organizers told a press conference they believe Le Cam is still alive and under the yacht.
