Volkswagen recalls 16,000 minivans in the US over fire risk

Volkswagen of America is recalling some 15,900 of its Routan model minivans for a sliding-door wiring defect that could cause a fire. The Routan model is made in the US by Chrysler, which on Monday recalled 284,831 cars also because of a fire risk.

Volkswagen takes 49.9% stake in Porsche

German carmaker Volkswagen has bought 49.9 percent of Porsche for 3.9 billion euros and announced ambitious targets to complete the purchase of the luxury brand by 2011 and unseat Japan's Toyota as the world's leading carmaker by 2018.
