Team New Zealand sues Alinghi over Cup delay
Last year's America's Cup looser Team New Zealand blames the Swiss champions Alinghi's boss for failing to respect his commitment not to delay the 2009 regatta.

MADRID, March 6 (Reuters) - Team New Zealand joined the
legal fray surrounding the America's Cup on Thursday, suing
Swiss holders Alinghi for a delay to the next regatta and for
stifling competition for sailing's most coveted prize.

Team New Zealand, which lost last year's America's Cup to
Alinghi 5-2, accused the Swiss team of picking an illegitimate
yacht club as its main challenger for the next Cup and setting
rules that gave it an unfair advantage.

U.S. team BMW Oracle took Alinghi to court on the same
charges last year and won the case. Alinghi has appealed.

Team New Zealand's managing director Grant Dalton told
Reuters they wanted financial compensation "in the tens of
millions of euros" after Alinghi's organising body ACM delayed
the next America's Cup indefinitely.
