AFP - The army psychiatrist accused of a shooting rampage last week at the Fort Hood military base in Texas will face 13 charges of premeditated murder, US media reported Thursday.

The charges against Major Nidal Hasan, who is to face legal proceedings in in a military court, were expected to be announced around 1800 GMT at the Texas army base, US networks said.

Hasan, 39, has been hospitalized since sustaining gunshot wounds and has declined to talk to investigators, his lawyer said.

The dead included 12 soldiers and one civilian, while 42 people were also wounded.

CNN said military legal authorities were mulling whether to add a 14th murder charge, because one of the fallen female soldiers was pregnant.
