In China's major urban centres, air pollution can sometimes reach alarming levels. Faced with the rising discontent of many city dwellers, the Chinese government has vowed more transparency in monitoring air pollution. 15,000 factories across the country are now required by law to report on their emissions data in real time. But will authorities also implement a cohesive environmental policy to tackle the air pollution problem at its source?
