Qatar is one of the smallest countries in the world and its citizens are among the richest on the planet. Qataris often make it into the headlines for buying up football clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, historic French hotels or shares in British Airways. But they also invest billions of euros to develop their own country, one that just 50 years ago was little more than a poverty-stricken desert.
