Video: FRANCE 24 joins Libyan troops as they fight the IS group in Sirte

© FRANCE 24 | With Libyan troops battling the Islamic State militants in Sirte.

As Libyan pro-unity government forces closed in on the remaining Islamic State group fighters in Sirte, FRANCE 24 joined troops allied with the country's unity government.

Militias loyal to the UN-sponsored government are closing in on the Islamic State (IS) group affiliate in Sirte, which has seen heavy fighting in recent weeks. Their campaign began two months ago to free Sirte from the Islamic State group militants, who took advantage of fighting between rival factions to gain territory and take control of the coastal city last year.
