Sarkozy and Merkel seek joint solution to debt crisis

French President Nicolas Sarkozy used his landmark Thursday night speech on the debt crisis to announce a Monday meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which he said would result in a joint plan to "guarantee the future of Europe."

President Nicolas Sarkozy of France said Thursday that he would meet Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel next week and announce a joint plan to rescue Europe from its debt crisis.

“On Monday, I will host Angela Merkel and together we will make proposals to guarantee the future of Europe,” Sarkozy said in a major economic address, arguing that: “Europe must be refounded.”

“France and Germany, after so many tragedies, decided to unite their destiny, to look to the future together. Changing this strategy would be inexcusable,” Sarkozy said.

“History and geography have made Germany and France either rivals or partners. Germany and France united means that all of Europe is united and strong. France and Germany divided is all of Europe divided and weakened.”

For the French and for Germans, “each has its own history, each its own wounds. When we talk about the currency, Germany remembers its history. We must understand that and we must respect it,” he said.

Germany has rejected calls for European Central Bank intervention to bail out indebted European economies because of its own painful memories of hyperinflation after World War I.

Quite simple,if you not beholden to the Rich,One of the steps is recover all the hidden money stashed away in Tax Havens.Oops the thought having to recoup money from the rich, send chivers to our human wimps in western Govts. They always turned away with tails between they legs.The difference between Germany and the rest of Europe ,Germany always had a single identity,and more innovated,hardworking . .The rest of Europe is divided and Run by Landlords and peasants in society.The riches are held by the minority in these countries .

F24 a very good spin this report.
What he actually siad was that on its own France is bust.
CDS do not lie.
The only real hope if the euro is to surrvive is that Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Ireland are allowed to leave in an orderly fashiion.
Free the to set their own interest rates, reform their own economies with help and assistance over the next 10 to 15 years and then if ready and the populations wish it they may then apply to rejoin the Euro Zone.
If not just isuing more debt, piled upon more debt, piled upon more debt and then printing worthless money is the path to real disaster.
