When will the oil run out? The answer may be: only 41 years. Even BP and other oil industry sources admit that inconvenient fact.
There are four decades in which to replace oils for transportation and for the petrochemical industry by biomass-derived products: liquid biofuels, biohydrogen and all the organic chemicals that can be derived from lignocellulosic biomass by microbial and thermochemical processes.
If you want to see the full data for oil depletion, read my new book "Biofuels: Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Sustainable Development", published this month (ISBN 978-1-4200-5124-7)
