British Airways and Iberia sign memorandum of understanding for merger
British Airways and Iberia of Spain have signed a memorandum of understanding on a merger that would create a European aviation giant to rival Air France-KLM and Lufthansa.

    The French southern city of Arles welcomes this year's photo festival -- one of the most important in the world. This year's commissioner is fashion designer Christian Lacroix, who has a personal interest of his own in the subject.

    The French city of Avignon is home to the world's most famous theatre festival. Every year, the city of Popes welcomes dozens of theatre companies, from classical to avant-garde. We met the renowned actor Philippe Caubère, an Avignon regular.

    Aix greets Kiarostami's 'Così fan tutte'
    This year's opera festival in the French city of Aix en Provence presents Mozart's renowned "Così fan tutte". Its director is Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, whose "The taste of cherries" won the 2007 Palme d'Or at the Cannes film festival.
