DRCongo 'ceasefire' talks to be held on December 8
Congolese government representatives and rebels loyal to renegade general Laurent Nkunda will meet in Nairobi on Monday to "formalise" a ceasefire in the east of the country, Kinshasa said on Friday.
"A meeting will take place between representatives of the government of DRCongo and the CNDP (National Congress for the Defence of the People) under the auspices of the United Nations and the mediator on December 8 in Nairobi in Kenya," Foreign Minister Alexis Thambe Mwamba said.
Speaking after talks with his Rwandan counterpart Rosemary Museminali, Mwamba said the aim was to "formalise the ceasefire" declared unilaterally by the rebels at the end of October but broken by both sides since.
