SOT BARACK OBAMA:
"There's one last thing that I should mention that I love about Great britian, and that's the Queen. (laughter). I'm very much looking forward to meeting her for the first time."
An impatient Barack Obama, speaking ahead of his meeting with Britain's Queen Elizabeth.
Before his trip to London even began, the US President and his wife had been briefed about meeting Her Majesty... and all that royal protocol involves.
Their trip to Buckingham Palace was a very formal affair. Michelle Obama wore a conservative outfit - her preferred sleeveless dresses are frowned on in royal circles.
The Obamas were greeted by the Queen and her husband... the President managed to keep the tone light, joking that he'd managed not to nod off in any of his many meetings so far.
Royal protocol rules out too much physical contact - hence this rather disjointed group photograph..
Then the Queen and President Obama held a 25-minute private chat.... before a formal palace reception for the G20 leaders and their guests.
Then - straight to work for the politicians at least - the leaders attended a working dinner hosted by prime minister Gordon Borwn at 10 Downing Street. Perhaps trying to set a frugal example in the current economic climate - the menu featured a sipmle British dish of roast lamb with mint sauce.
