AFP - Napoli extended their unbeaten run to five matches but wasted an opportunity to move into fourth place in Serie A after being held to a goalless draw by lowly Catania in Sicily on Saturday.
Napoli, who remain sixth on 18 points from 12 matches, were a shadow of the side that had staged a dramatic fightback to defeat Juventus 3-2 in Turin last week.
The home side dominated a dull match, creating several early chances with forwards Giuseppe Mascara and Takayuki Morimoto the chief culprits.
Menacing but missing his shooting boots, the Japanese star fired at Morgan De Sanctis from five yards and then headed wide from a similar distance either side of half-time as Catania stay one off the bottom with eight points.
Ezequiel Lavezzi had the best chance for Walter Mazzarri's side on 48 minutes, but, clean through, the Argentine could only shoot at goalkeeper Mariano Andujar.
