AFP - Italian prosecutors on Saturday demanded life imprisonment for American student Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito for the 2007 murder of Briton Meredith Kercher.

"I was Meredith's friend," Knox exclaimed, her voice choked with emotion, shortly afterward.

"I didn't hate her. The idea that I wanted revenge against someone who was nice to me is absurd," she said.

"What I've heard in the last two days is pure fantasy, it's not the reality," Knox said.
