Soldiers deliberately exposed to nuclear radiation (report)
Gilles Hugot was just 19 years old when the army posted him to the Algerian Sahara in 1963. As a tanker driver, he delivered water supplies to military camps and the local people. Within the space of two years no fewer than four nuclear tests were carried out in the southern region of Hoggar. Gilles has been diagnosed with cancer. He's convinced his illness was brought on by the radiation he was exposed to.
