August 5th 2009 - Record audience figures for FRANCE24.COM: 7 million unique visitors in June 2009
According to figures from the Médiamétrie/Nielsen Institute(1), FRANCE 24’s website, FRANCE24.com, achieved record audience figures in June 2009, with almost 7,000,000 unique visitors during the month (6,800,000).
With 80% of its total traffic from outside France, of which almost half was from the USA (3,300,000 unique visitors), FRANCE 24’s trilingual website (French, English and Arabic) remains the most international in its category.
The strong news flow in June, together with a series of exclusive interviews and reports broadcast on all FRANCE 24’s channels, enabled FRANCE24.com to achieve its best performance since its launch in December 2006.
For Stanislas Leridon, FRANCE 24’s Director of Internet and New Media, “recent news events such as the death of Michael Jackson and the demonstrations in Iran showed the power and special nature of the Internet and the alternative news tools, the leading one of which is Twitter. This helped increase visitor traffic on FRANCE24.com very significantly. In addition, our partner, Youtube, has been promoting indexation which has boosted the visibility of our video clips on the “Google News” service, both in France and abroad, as has happened with the other syndication agreements signed by FRANCE 24.”
