Prices for their produce are down, taxes and environmental requirements are up, and farmers have had enough. They are now demanding a return to EU regulation of the markets to help them balance the books.

I think this is shameful. France has the best food in the world. The rural small farmers are the backbone of this.
If they cannot make a living, they will go under and Monsanto will be happy to fill the void.
I cannot imagine France without It's open air markets.
The French should create a holiday for the rural farmers!
