Florida church’s plan to burn Koran could ‘harm’ US troops
The White House on Tuesday backed General David Petraeus (pictured) in opposing a Florida church's plan to burn copies of the Koran. The Afghan commander says the move could stoke anger in the Islamic world and put US troops in "harm's way".

AFP - The White House on Tuesday raised concern about a US church's plan to burn a Koran and backed its Afghan war commander's warning that it could put US troops at risk.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs reiterated comments by top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus.
"It puts our troops in harm's way, any type of activity like that that puts our troops in harm's way would be a concern to this administration," Gibbs said.
Pastor Terry Jones, who heads the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville Florida, vowed to go ahead with the burning of a Koran on Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
He had given "serious" consideration to the concerns expressed by Petraeus, but said on Tuesday nevertheless "we have firmly made up our mind" to go ahead with the plan.
Jones said the Koran torching aimed "to remember those who were brutally murdered on September 11," and to send a warning "to the radical element of Islam."

This terrorism against Qur'an is terrorism against whole mankind , as these are words of God to mankind.
Before committing this heinous crime the pastor should read what is inside, for people who do not use their intellect,are classed by Quran as "worse than animals" lowest of all.

Leave it to people of the United States to further denigrate the image of what was once the most respected country in the world. My family emigrated to the USA for its freedom, honesty, and respect for the individual. After living here all my life, I am now become totally disillusioned by the ludicrous behaviour of an increasing number of ignorant Americans, who misunderstand conservatism as a return to draconian values that the USA never had in the first place!
I would suggest that Pastor Jones educate himself on the fact that his religion and Islam share a common Abrahamic origin. To blaspheme one is to blaspheme the other.
Koran Burning
It is not UG General Petraeus' job to comment on civilian political activities, such as the burning of the Koran. It is not his job to protect Islam. His job is to complete his military mission, as misdirected and failed as it is. The Administration in Washington has more concern over image than reality. If the Afghanistan people were are allies, they wouldn't burn our Flag or pelt our troops with rocks. The pastor in Florida, is protesting the the newest political fad, which is to rub the buttocks of a cultural, political and religious enemy. This is his right as a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the United States. Though I believe the pastor could have done this differently, for Christ's sake, his right as a citizen means more to me than the anger of ten thousand Muslims.

this people dont like peace and they dont want the world to be in peace so what the pastor is doing is right.do you think they want the othe religion to be they neighbor, they have no or lettle respect for other religion, if you dought me try being in a city or country were they are the majority and is what they are capable of doing. they use the founding father's America to try and make they out and when they succeed that will be the end of the hole issue, the world would pay and that will be the people not in their religion .i call for the people of the world not just the American,uk and Africa to recite Islam and it's ideas of a sharia massage

The Dove World Outreach Center plans to burn the Quran, September 11 next. This initiative does not surprise me given that Mr. Waber christian National Councillor, UDC, said that at half-mast "Islam is a religion are not an outright declaration of war." The misunderstanding of Islam leads these critics to think that Islam is because of the attacks, killing people who are not of the same religion whatsoever. The Dove World Outreach Center is playing with fire. If this action is performed extremist religion will grow and we are not surprised by the results. I'm here a warning to this pastor who has lost the right direction if you ever burned you understand the noble Qur'an in your life here on earth and of the hereafter that the Koran are the words of uncertain ' Allah the highest. It is time for you to understand things and backtracked. Avoid endangering the lives of hundreds of U.S. worldwide. Respect others rights to practise their Faiths
Its really disheartening to see that this Pastor Jones is De-characterizing the people of the Great United States. i live in the Caribbean Region and to view and hear such comments of total dis-respect to another mans faith by means of a message that he himself is not even sure what he wants to send. For a man of Faith and who profess to be within the truth and a Servant of God has greatly rein the fabric of being loving to all. so i support the motion that this Pastor Jones Should be stop cause it would cause the Greater United States to lose its creditability world wide, on the basis of not respecting the practices of religious beliefs.

Burning any religious book is plain stupid. How can another relegious group not know that? (!)
Voice an opinion, shout it to the roof tops, but, come-on, didn't we all learn from WWII?
