Waste disposal problems in the Ivory Coast, clashes in women-only Dehli metro compartments and Clooney in South-Soudan
Derek Thomson presents a news show produced exclusively from content provided by amateurs. Photos, videos and personal accounts from our network of Observers around the world - all checked by our staff in Paris. First run Saturdays at 8:10 am Paris time.
Presentation: Derek Thomson. Editorial Team: Julien Pain, Lorena Galliot, Segolène Malterre, Sarra Grira and Paul Larrouturou.
STORY 1 : IVORY COAST.
We start today in Ivory Coast. The political crisis following the contested election in November has of course had a far-reaching effect on all aspects of Ivorian life… including some of the most mundane.
Observer : Francioly Timbo in Abidjan.
STORY 2 : INDIA
Now to an issue familiar to women who live and work in big cities... groping on crowded public transportation. The Indian capital New Delhi is the latest city to introduce women-only cars on its metro trains. The cars are safer - and less crowded… making some men jealous.
Observer : Abhishek Khanna in New Delhi.
STORY 3 : SUDAN
We end today with a celebrity. We don't often have celebrities in this show... it's not really our thing. But our Observer - who's been working for an NGO in South Sudan - was very impressed with an American actor who's been visiting the area as it votes to become its own country. You may have heard of him...A certain George Clooney...
Observer :Tim Freccia in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
