This week on "Le Sportcast": Lyon and Marseille take on European giants Real Madrid and Manchester United in the Champions League last 16, while France's rugby team prepare to defend their Six Nations title at Twickenham.
This week in Le Sportcast, France 24 sport correspondent Louis Massie and rugby editor Thibault Lieurade break down the forthcoming football and rugby events of the week.
Football – Champions League
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Lyon and Marseille face continental giants Real Madrid and Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League ties. In six games, Lyon have never lost against the Spaniards, who also lag five points behind Liga leaders Barcelona. But Real coach Jose Mourinho has no intention of letting Europe's top prize slip away.
Marseille face an even steeper challenge against Manchester United, one of the tournament's main contenders and among the bookies' favourites to pick up a fourth title. The French champions were deprived on Saturday of their recently in-form striker Andre-Pierre Gignac (injured), and will also have to make do without key player Mathieu Valbuena.
Rugby – Six Nations
Same old rivalries, same old Crunch. Saturday, title holders France face England at Fortress Twickenham, where they will be hoping to prove they are the worthy Six Nations champions. But should French coach Marc Lievremont beef up his team's defence after conceding six tries in just two games? Or will England continue their cruise towards the title?
