Ouattara hails 'era of hope' after Gbagbo arrest
In his first speech since Laurent Gbagbo's capture on Monday, Ivory Coast’s internationally recognised president Alassane Ouattara vowed to bring the fallen leader to justice and to launch an inquiry into crimes committed during the conflict.
AFP - Ivory Coast's internationally recognised president Alassane Ouattara on Monday urged Ivorians to refrain from reprisals and violence following the arrest of his rival, strongman Laurent Gbagbo.
"I ask you to remain calm and show restraint," he said in a televised address Monday night.
After saying his country was "at the dawn of a new era of hope," Ouattara said he wanted to create a truth and reconciliation commission to shed light on charges of violations of human rights.
He also announced the launch of "legal proceedings against Laurent Gbagbo, his wife and his allies," while adding that "all measures are being taken" to protect them.

I don't believe that Gbogbo is guilty of anything. As usuall French is after something in Ivory Coast. Quattara is a muslim and the people in the South Christian who were killed most the people in the west and south since this rebels are from the north. immediately after Gbogbo was captured they did their prayer. Africa wake up the muslim wants to control our continent and it is about time the african people work up and pray more to get rid of French US and muslim in our countries. my husband is from the Ivory Coast he left the country when Quttara started this war and he is still continuing becuase white people are after our mother land resources. I am so angry and can't explain the feeling of what just happened in Ivory Coast. He is better off the country that will be ruled by the non-ivorian and muslim. he had built his life here in SA and i don't think my children will come to that country as from yesterday I have nothing to do with Ivory Coast May God be with Gbogbo and his family from those rebels I never seen a country ruled by rebels from other country
