A voice of reason

My deepest condolences go to Tariq Jahan for the loss of his son. The fact that he was able to speak so eloquently after this horrendous event and calm an already volatile situation, says a lot for the man. It is such a pity that there are not more people like him, with more interest in peace than in violence.
Potentially, the situation was such that if he had taken another tack, violence would more than likely have escalated to a point where the already over-worked authorities would have been completely unable to maintain control. He is probably directly responsible for saving a lot of lives under incredibly trying circumstances.
Respect is never demanded, it is always earned. Tariq Jahan has earned my respect for what he has done.
