Strike continues to disrupt air traffic at Paris Orly

France’s civil aviation authority has asked airlines to cancel around 20% of flights at Paris Orly airport for a second day on Tuesday due to a strike by air-traffic controllers.

Some 135 flights will be scrapped, though the French capital’s larger Charles de Gaulle airport will not be affected by the strike.

Three unions of air-traffic controllers have called the two-day strike in protest at plans to cut jobs at France’s regional hubs.

On Monday, around a hundred flights were cancelled at Orly and substantial delays were reported at smaller airports around France.

Among the travellers affected were Champions League quarter-finalists Olympique de Marseille, whose Munich-bound flight was delayed by more than five hours due to the late arrival of the aircraft at Marignane airport near Marseille.
