The US is a big, sort of rich country and Europe is a big, sort of rich compilation of countries--let us isolate for a generation or two and take care of internal issues. If we Americans had of kept out of two world wars that were none of our business the Italians could be enjoying Enlightened Fascism, Germany might still be fighting Russia and we yanks could continue in our "parochial ways".

Commendable. Undoubtedly, the US has applied and will continue to apply utmost pressure on Italian authorities to reverse this court decision.
The CIA, the US answer to the German SS, enjoys absolute immunity from prosecution in the US, notwithstanding its long and worsening record of war crimes, murder, kidnapping, etc. etc. etc. Every time the rest of the world calls out its crimes, and strives to hold actors responsible, is a step in the right direction.
This is how a truly FREE country should uphold their laws !!
