Action against Islamist militants in Mali could affect hostages
Since the Malian government was overthrown in a coup d'etat in March this year, Islamist hardliners have taken control of the northern part of the country. The UN Security Council has given the go-ahead for military intervention, but families of the six French hostages being held in the country fear that any such operations could have severe consequences for their loved ones.
