After five years of unsuccessful labour negotiations, Goodyear executives on Thursday announced a plan to close a tyre plant that employs 1,173 workers in the northern French city of Amiens. Goodyear described the plan as "the only option".
shut it down. Stay out of the country.....socialists define the art of scam. there is no such thing as an honest days wage to them. Work is dirty word. all socialists are the same.
The french are too lazy, as bad as the italians and spanish, pull your finger out and get your great country a place you can be proud of, you need to work, not just be employed.
Due to the convoluted methods available to todays Multinational Companies Auditors,a loss of 61m may not be the fault of the plant in Amiens, the ability to transfer costs and profits mean that the company can create accounts to reflect whatever they want.Having worked in a corp for 13years I know this is true.
My only question is why Goodyear didn't close this plant sooner if they were bleeding $61 million Euros last year? Union demands can often backfire and now the entire town will suffer as a result;Hope their French Pension is going to pay the workers what Goodyear had proposed.
WHY? what lazy journalism... how can you site 5 years of talks for the reason but not tellus what the 5 year talks were about - more france24 truth hiding / french propaganda...
Very sad to see the government and workers union destroy another plant and more good paying jobs in France. What is it going to take for them to understand that labor and tax reform is the only thing that can save France from economic disaster?
