Story 1: Cambodia
We begin today in Cambodia. Every year to mark international Human Rights Day, December 10th, Cambodian monks hold a long march to the capital. They do it in part to draw attention especially to the plight of small farmers whose land is often expropriated by business interests. Our Observer is a monk with a degree in political science.
Story 2: Iran
To Iran now… The Islamic Republic has for decades had a huge population of refugees from Afghanistan. They have repatriated nearly a million of them in recent years, but the Afghans keep coming, looking for a better life. Our Observer is an Afghan who grew up in Iran.
