The call for entries closed on the 25th of July

For the fourth year, FRANCE 24 and RFI are organizing the Web Documentary Prize. Within the framework of “Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan”, one of the most international photojournalism festivals, FRANCE 24 and RFI are contributing to the emergence of this innovative new formats.

The prize rewards the best web documentary that stands out thanks to its original outlook on a news topic and its effective use of new multimedia tools offered by the web.

  • FRANCE 24-RFI Web Documentary Award
    • prix webdocumentaireFRANCE 24, the international news channel, and RFI, the international news radio station, launched the first edition of the Web Documentary Award in 2009 in partnership with the photojournalism festival “Visa pour l’Image - Perpignan”.

      This project aims to encourage the development of a new form of information based on the wide possibilities offered by new media and internet.

      This initiative is in line with the strategy undertaken by FRANCE 24 and RFI,  both  pioneer media in the use of multimedia tools, new technologies and innovative perspective on news.

      Open to all, this prize rewards the best and most original journalistic project published online in terms of choice and coverage of a multimedia news topic. The laureate will be granted 8.000 Euros. In order to select a prize-winner, the jury will use the following criteria:

      - choice of topic
      - the journalistic approach in the treatment of the topic
      - multimedia approach
      - production quality
      - interactivity

      The candidates are required to innovate, to advance or contribute to the reflection on  a modern way to presenting information on the web.

    • prix webdocumentaireThe FRANCE 24-RFI Web Documentary Award is organized within the framework of the “Visa pour l’Image - Perpignan” photojournalism festival which has gathered the greatest number of photojournalists and the representatives of major international newspapers and magazines for over 20 years.

      At the 24th edition of Visa pour l’Image - Perpignan (from 1st to 16 September 2012 – Perpignan, France) a jury of international personalities from the world of information, photography and new media will present this award.
  • What is a web documentary ?
    • A web documentary is an online documentary that uses image, text, sound and videos and has an interactive dimension. You can watch the latest web documentaries made by FRANCE 24

  • Entry requirements and conditions

    • prix The call for candidates is open from 25 June to 25 July 2012. Candidates have to fill the online application form below. The following documents must also be attached to the application:

      1. a scan of your ID
      2. a covering letter including a project description.
      3. a curriculum vitae

      The project has to be in French or English.
