L'objet de FRANCE 24 est de créer, promouvoir et exploiter une chaîne de télévision d'information internationale, en langues française et étrangères.

FRANCE 24 est la première chaîne française d’information internationale en continu 24 heures sur 24 et 7 jours sur 7.

Lancée en décembre 2006, elle apporte un regard et une sensibilité française sur l’actualité mondiale. FRANCE 24 affirme sa spécificité par une approche de l’information respectueuse des diversités, attentive aux différences et aux

identités politiques et culturelles. Elle propose un décryptage approfondi de l’actualité pour en faire découvrir la partie

immergée et montrer ce que le public n’est pas censé voir, savoir ou comprendre. Enfin, elle traite avec une attention

particulière de la culture et de l’art de vivre.

FRANCE 24 déploie une stratégie multilingue forte et ambitieuse. Elle propose, depuis le 6 décembre 2006, ses programmes sur deux canaux en français et anglais, et a lancé ses programmes en arabe le 2 avril 2007. Elle devrait ensuite diffuser en espagnol. Gratuite et en clair, la chaîne se positionne sur toutes les plateformes dans l’univers du numérique (satellite, câble, ADSL), et place Internet au coeur de sa stratégie avec un site trilingue dès son lancement.

FRANCE 24 cible les leaders d’opinion et est distribuée dès son lancement en Europe, au Proche/Moyen-Orient, en Afrique

et dans les villes de New York et Washington D.C. Elle étendra ensuite sa couverture pour atteindre une diffusion mondiale.

Elle dispose pour cela de moyens et d’une équipe qui garantissent son indépendance éditoriale et lui permettent de proposer images et reportages inédits.
