Beloved broadcaster Jacques Martin dies

Television broadcaster and host Jacques Martin died overnight in Biarritz, at the age of 74. He was previously married to Cécilia Sarkozy, and was best known for hosting the shows "L'Ecole des Fans" (Fan School) and "Dimanche Martin."

Paris, September 14 (Reuters) - Television broadcastor and host Jacques Martin died between Thursday night and Friday morning in Biarritz, at the age of 74, according to France 2.
La Ministre de la Culture, Christine Albanel, saluted his "Free and impertinent spririt. He was funny, full of talent."
"I remember that on all of his shows, he would sing, do imitations, he was a discoverer of talent. He left his mark on the (audiovisual) landscape," she said on Europe 1.
For more than 30 years, Jacques Martin hosted popular television shows like "Le Petit Rapporteur," (The Little Tattle-tale) "L'Ecole des Fans," (Fan School), and "Dimanche Martin." (Sunday Martin)
He had retired in 1998 in Biarritz after a cerebral injury.
