Reuters - A man fired a small air gun at passers-by near a school in the French city of Lyon on Friday, lightly wounding five adults and sowing panic, police said.
The school was evacuated, but none of the children was hurt or targeted, police said.
Security in schools and nurseries is a particularly sensitive issue after last week's school shooting in Germany, in which a teenager shot dead 15 people before killing himself.
Authorities in Lyon cancelled the city's carnival, which was supposed to start on Friday, and closed off the neighbourhood where the shooting took place.
