AFP - PSA Peugeot Citroen on Sunday ousted chief executive Christian Streiff as France's biggest carmaker struggles in the international economic crisis.

"Given the extraordinary difficulties currently faced by the automotive industry, the supervisory board decided unanimously that a change in the senior leadership position was necessary," said supervisory board chairman Thierry Peugeot.

The company said Streiff will be replaced by Philippe Varin, a former head of the Corus steel group.
