Tokyo share prices slump 2.69 percent at close

Dragged down by heavy losses on Wall Street, Japanese share prices ended down 2.69 percent as the Nikkei-225 index fell 237.84 points.


AFP - Japanese share prices closed off 2.69 percent on Wednesday, dragged down by heavy losses on Wall Street and growing fears of weak corporate earnings, dealers said.

The Nikkei-225 index fell 237.84 points to 8,595.01. The broader Topix index of all first-section shares dropped 17.34 points, or 2.08 percent, to 815.26.
