German choreographer Pina Bausch dies at 68

Pina Bausch, one of the world’s best-known modern dance choreographers, died on Tuesday at the age of 68. Bausch was the artistic director and choreographer of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch company, based in Germany.


AFP - Innovative German modern dance choreographer Pina Bausch died on Tuesday aged 68, the theatre in the western city of Wuppertal where she was based told AFP on Tuesday.

Born Josephine Bausch, the choreographer made her name at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She was known for a highly personal style of dance with often exaggerated forms of expression.

She had recently been diagnosed with cancer.
